FAce masseurs: You officially have some competition.
Therabody just launched a new device called SmartGoggles that massages, heats, and vibrates your face. You can even pair them with the Therabody app to listen to a meditation or other audio scene in time with every face-shaking motion. All you have to do is cough up $199. (*screams*)
Therabody SmartGoggles – $199.00
These face massage, vibration and heating goggles that can tell when you’re feeling stressed out are expensive. But with Therabody’s track record, they probably feel amazing.
The company says the SmartGoggles weigh less than a pound, but judging by the photos, they definitely look more like giant goggles than a simple eye mask.
What makes these glasses so smart? It comes with “SmartSense technology,” which can ostensibly tell if you’re stressed out by measuring your heart rate. Then it lowers the heart rate by rubbing the face well, you can look at the heart rate data in the app to see how the session may have calmed your weak nerves.
The face is often a place where tension manifests, which may be why massaging on your forehead and around the eyes looks so appealing.
“We carry tension in our faces because that’s where we show our feelings,” Liz AignerM., a licensed massage therapist and esthetician, previously told Well + Good. You can relieve this tension by massaging the face yourself, but why do all that heavy lifting when some futuristic goggles can do it for you?
Therabody has a proven track record of making expensive products that, let’s be real, we’re impressed. And the company isn’t new to facials: This spring, it launched the TheraFace Pro skin-tightening beauty tool that our reviewer called a “game-changing” device. With the launch of SmartGoggles, it seems Therabody wants to help all of our faces feel those good vibrations.
