Three of the best activities that can help you live longer
Researchers from the National Cancer Institute analyzed more than 272,000 people between the ages of 59 and 82.
They were asked about their leisure time activities and the relationship between their diet and their health.
These participants were followed for more than a decade, with experts searching their health records during that time.
In fact, they found that those who engaged in any type of aerobic activity had a 13% lower risk of death compared to those who did none.
Examples of aerobic activities
racket sport – Death risk decreased by 27%
Management – 19% reduction in risk of early death
Walking – It is the third most useful for reducing the risk of early death
“Participation in any of the activities was associated with lower mortality compared to those who did not participate in every activity, including moderate intensity activities,” The study authors wrote.
How walking can help you lose weight
Walking is an easy way for beginners to start exercising without having to shell out cash on gym equipment or gear.
Plus, it’s low-impact, so even if you have a joint injury or inflammation, it won’t put much stress on your body.
In fact, you can put it on almost any time of the day!
A study was published in Frontiers in Endocrinology She found that doing 7,500 steps a day could be enough to prevent a person from developing type 2 diabetes, which is often caused by a poor diet and not enough exercise.
Meanwhile, according to Harvard HealthA person can burn about 167 calories by doing 30 minutes of moderate walking.
In fact, the study found that obese women who walked 50-70 minutes a day reduced their body fat by 1.5%, and their waist circumference decreased by about 1.1 inches over a 12-week period.
Once you feel more confident, you can take your moderate walk into a brisk walk and then maybe even jog for a run.
Furthermore, other research has found that walking in nature can help promote relaxation and reduce stress.
Running doubles the number of calories you burn. But the good thing about walking is that if you sustain an injury or strain a muscle, it can still be done.
