Miranda Parkinson changed her lifestyle and lost an incredible 36 kg Healthy mummy 28 day weight loss challenge.
After her partner’s murder, a mother of three reveals that she’s headed into a deep, dark downward spiral. The beautiful mother admits she felt “too lost with no real direction” and dealing with this tragedy made her ignore her own health.
“My life changed forever on that day in 2016. Naturally, I had been feeling sad for a very long time, had no motivation or direction, and the days seemed to roll into one,” The Brisbane-based mom confesses.
“Shock and sadness made my weight spiral out of control. I went from a healthy, healthy weight of 80kg to 115kg in just six months. I was just following the movements, and didn’t think about what I was eating. I found it very difficult to work. I was only ‘exist’ at that point in my life.”

A common side effect of bereavement is emotional eating, and while some people lose their appetite after the death of a loved one, Miranda says she has become emotional eaters.
“My eldest son from my ex-partner who we tragically lost in 2016, when he was murdered. Then I met my current partner in mid-2017 who is also a widow and was raising his son,” Miranda says.
“Now we’ve lost 2 together. I was really unhealthy when I got pregnant, and I still use eating and drinking to get over the sadness and trauma, but growing another human made me take care of my body and saw me lose 12kg during pregnancy.
“After her birth I knew I was accepted back to take care of myself but I was a little lost and was looking for some support I found the healthy mummy while breastfeeding and thought well I was going to do this and ordered my first smoothie tub then I joined about two weeks later and never looked back (June 11, 2019)”.

“It completely changed my body shape. It took just over 13 months for the weight to be lost, but through my commitment to a healthy lifestyle and a new passion for running as well as exploring exercises from the app, the past 13 months have seen a muscle definition that I didn’t think was possible,” Miranda says.
“I didn’t start with a goal weight and that helped me a lot because I was never disappointed at not hitting a goal but instead totally amazed that what I achieved was possible.
“I’m no longer on blood pressure medications, or antidepressants, and for all that time court proceedings have been underway, now I eat healthy, exercise and the amazing support from the community has made me strong and helped me get through such a difficult time.”

“They gave me the fuel I needed to start my day,” she says.

“If I lose centimeters around my waist or can put on a costume or can keep up with my kids, I count that as a win too! My positive outlook on life is the real win. I’m in a different place than I was before.
“I know how to carry myself now. If I feel particularly tired, I would start with a little squat and then all of a sudden I use The Healthy Mummy to do a high intensity workout and feel 20 times better doing it. Happier because I feel so good about myself!”
