Editors’ note: Between Mickey submitting her story and the time it was published. I stopped doing the strict Carnivore. I’ve transitioned to a meat-based diet, reintroducing FODMAP fruits and vegetables. Meat and eggs are still the primary goal of her meals. She believes she does best with lean meats and some carbs, and feels more comfortable tracking her macros. I have nothing but respect for this, it’s important to find what works for you. You currently make about 80g of carbs, 130g of protein, and 100g of fat. If the entire world adopted a diet dense in meat with fresh fruits and vegetables, it would probably be in better shape than it is now. Personally, I don’t have any metabolism issues, so I don’t have to stick to the strict Carnivore diet. I do it because it’s something I enjoy, it works and it’s right for me right now. If I feel the need to eat some fresh strawberries one day, I will. It will not destroy my faith or digestion. I’m thankful I have the choice, many people end up at Carnivore as a last resort. Anyway I feel there is still a lot of useful information in this post, enjoy.

I am a bartender/personal trainer living in Las Vegas. I also compete in a bikini.
2) How to eat before Carnivore.
Before eating meat, I was a vegetarian. I thought I would get fat and fat by eating meat. It was a really high carb diet.
3) Why did you try Carnivore to begin with.
I reintroduced meat into my diet after feeling depleted while preparing for a bikini contest. I have been out for about 10 weeks with horrible acne, constant panic attacks, and feeling mentally unstable the entire time. I was craving meat!!! I ate double up on protein In-N-Out style and as a cheat meal and could literally feel the blood pumping through my veins and my mood improving. Since then I’ve eaten a lot of red meat and eggs with brown rice and veggies while chopping weight for show, then ditched rice and veggies completely the day after the competition and I couldn’t be happier 🙂

4) How do you personally relate to the Carnivore Diet?
Personally, I take on the Carnivore Diet by eating what I want, when I want it. If the cuts of meat are lean, add bacon fat, butter, or shortening. Lots of people post their recipes on Instagram which I follow, so I am also very influenced by them.
5) What benefits have you seen since starting the Carnivore Diet?
The benefits I’ve seen since starting the Carnivore Diet are clear skin. I’ve had acne my whole life that my family members called me pizza face. Now this is not a problem. I would also like to say that my stomach is not full, my body is well balanced, and my energy level is amazing because I don’t need coffee but just drink it because I like the taste. No more anxiety or depression.
6) What are the negative aspects of the Carnivore Diet?
The negatives on the carnivore diet, were for a few days i had diarrhea when i started.
Also when I compete again, hopefully in the summer of 2019, I will probably train myself because I can’t find a trainer that has experience with 100% carnivores. Everyone says I need vegetables to digest…. *laughs*

7) Do you practice the Carnivore Diet, if so how do you find it and what to do.
Yes, I’m on the Carnivore Diet, I feel like I have a lot of energy and I’m in the gym every single day. I lift 5 times a week and with cardio 3 times a week currently.
8) What advice would you give someone who is interested in trying this diet, but hasn’t made the jump yet.
Advice for someone interested in trying this diet is to trust the process. Also, one size does not fit all. Find what works best for you.

9) Do you think carnivore will ever be accepted as a mainstream diet.
Do you think carnivore will ever be accepted as a mainstream diet? no. I want a documentary on Netflix that makes me believe otherwise.
