At one time, I spent nearly an hour perfecting my makeup look. I was taking my time applying foundation, blending a tri-color lid look, trying smudged eyeliner, and trying my hand at lip liner. It was boring and it never felt 100 percent right on me (especially since I’d never quite mastered a blended smoky eye), so eventually, I ditched my over-the-top beauty routine in favor of a no-makeup makeup look.
Now, I apply my beloved CLE CCC Cream, dot on concealer where necessary (currently I love NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer ($32), brush my brows with Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Freeze Extreme Hold Laminated-Look Sculpting Wax ($23), Fill them in with the Urban Decay Brow Blade ($28), use a black wing tip, and swipe on some mascara.
But of course, even a no-makeup makeup look isn’t complete without a pop of color, so I don’t go anywhere without blush and some kind of lip. And — man, let me tell you — I think I’ve found the perfect summer combo for 2023 in the new Lawless Juicy Watermelon collection.
The 4-piece set includes Lawless Forget The Filler Lip Blur Line ($26), Lawless Force Forest Blooming Line – Tinted Lip Balm ($26), Lawless Force The Filler Lip Blur Line ($22), and The Lawless Make Me Blush-Talc-Free Velvet Blush ($29)—all in the brand-new Juicy Watermelon shade (and the scent—it smells like… So good!).
The blush—which is already at the top of the summer beauty cycle—is rich in color and buttery smooth, making it easy to apply. Even though it looks a bit glossy in the packaging, somehow it doesn’t look like you’ve been swiping your face in glitter once you put it on. It provides intense color but can be built with Just Just the right amount of lit-from-within radiance.
Lip displays are equally commendable. While a light pink hue, they glide on with just a sheer finish, giving lips a nice, glossy sheen with just a bit of plumping action. I’ve long loved Lol’s Forget The Filler Lip Plumper Line Smoothing Gloss (which comes in 11 other shades) for its uniquely curved applicator tip, which allows you to coat your entire lips with the product in just one swipe. Plus, the formula contains plumping hyaluronic acid, hydrating and soothing shea butter, and the brand’s trademark MAXI-LIP™, which is said to increase lip volume by 40 percent. When I apply this gloss, my lips feel deeply moisturized and look noticeably plumper, with a great shine factor without any stickiness. Now that it’s hot pink, I’ll be wearing it more often.
I started using Juicy Watermelon Line Smoothing Gloss over Forget the Filler Lip-Plumping Line-Smoothing Tinted Lip Balm, both of which offer double the plumping benefits while smoothing my lips with rosa canina oil. Plus, when you layer a couple of hot pink lip products on, the color payoff is more pigmented, but somehow still looks natural enough to complement the “makeup no makeup” vibes.
As for the night mask, I’m not completely Sure why one would want to wear a tinted lip balm in their sleep, but that doesn’t mean I won’t keep wearing it until I run out. I’ve loved the original Lawless Overnight Lip Plumping Mask for years, thanks to the fact that it’s smooth (not sticky) and makes my lips look healthy and soft, but I think I’ll stick to the colorless version in the future. For anyone looking to get creative super Goodnight kissable-looking lips, although this stuff is a great option.
