If there is one celebrity who never ceases to amaze me with their sense of street fashion, it is Katie Holmes. From her choice of supportive and comfortable sneakers, to her comfy fleece outerwear, the actress continues to deliver looks that I can’t help but add to my personal cart every season. And now that spring is on the horizon, I’m noticing again what Holmes is wearing, so that I can better outfit my warmer-weather wardrobe. And here’s the fashion icon once again.
Holmes was recently seen walking the streets of New York City wrapped in Everlane merchandise. Specifically, the actress wore The 80s Blazer ($185) and The Way-High Drape Pant ($128) in black and cotton khakis from the brand’s new list of modern wardrobe essentials.
The capsule collection, which debuted on February 27, includes several styles (including Holmes’ looks above) designed to be worn everywhere from lunch to the office. With the exaggerated lines on the jackets and the wide leg profile of the bottoms, this “fit” is a modern take on ’80s workwear. The jacket’s shoulders are smooth, so the angles aren’t severe, and the pants are designed to fit loosely (while still accentuating the hips and booty). Great fit And the lightweight (but durable) material makes this set an easy spring—it’s warm enough to wear on its own, yet breathable enough that you don’t start to sweat after walking a few blocks.
Buy the jacket and pants, or get them separately – they work well together, but can easily work on their own. Patterns can be used as stand-alone pieces to create the foundation of a killer costume. For example, pair your favorite bodice under a jacket with bike shorts and tennis shoes, or wear it with some jeans. Since it’s black and white, it will compliment everything you already own, so there’s no need to stick around with it. The same goes for pants – you can easily mix and match them with a plain black T-shirt (like the one Holmes wears underneath – also a basic Everlin), or your favorite blouse or jacket.
For those unfamiliar, Everlane prides itself on its commitment to sustainable fashion, and the clothes are often made from materials like recycled water bottles to help produce high-quality, eco-friendly styles. In fact, the jacket that was spotted on Holmes is made with a recycled polyester lining. Modern wardrobe capsule rest range here.
