Pin the recipe to try it later!
I vividly remember when I first had lettuce wraps, at a Chinese restaurant in Salt Lake where a friend named Mike was neat enough to order it even though it wasn’t on the menu. This was years ago. Now lettuce wraps like these Asian lettuce cups with spicy turkey Fairly mainstream, and made with lean ground turkey like this one, they make a great low-carb, gluten-free, and dairy-free dinner option. And you can easily adapt it to use ground beef in keto or use gluten-free soy sauce, gluten-free coconut milk, or paleo.
This dish with spicy meat eaten inside pieces of lettuce could be called lettuce wraps or lettuce cups, but I like to stack the lettuce cup with a lot of filling rather than wrapping it, so I call them lettuce cups
What ingredients do you need for this recipe?
What is fish sauce?
Just as the name says, fish sauce It is an Asian condiment made from fermented fish. If you are not familiar with this, do not be alarmed by the smell as it adds an amazing umami flavor to Asian dishes. I’m a fan Red boat fish sauce (affiliate link) It is gluten-free and contains no added ingredients.
What kind of lettuce should you use?
I like to use Boston Lettuce or Butter lettuce for this recipe, but you can also use Iceberg Lettuce or Green Leaf lettuce if you can’t find other types of lettuce or if you don’t want to spend a lot.

- I like to roll up the lettuce cup when I eat it, so it’s like a taco, but some people like to wrap the lettuce around the filling.
Notes
Uses Gluten Free Soy Sauce (Referral link) if necessary. If you’re not a fan of cilantro, I’ll use thinly sliced green onions. I like Boston Lettuce or Butter lettuce for this recipe, but you can also substitute Iceberg Lettuce if you prefer.

Low Carb Diet / Low Glycemic Diet / South Beach Diet Suggestions:
With lean turkey and other low-carb ingredients, these Asian lettuce cups are the perfect dinner choice for any stage of the South Beach Originals or other low-carb eating plans. If you use gluten-free soy sauce or coconut acids instead of soy sauce, this can easily be suitable for gluten-free or paleo/30 whole eaters. For Keto, you may want to use high-fat ground beef, which will still be delicious in this recipe.
