Mom shares 5 valuable tips for losing weight during the coronavirus quarantine
Keri Hurten is the mother of two girls (ages 7 and 11) who follows The Healthy Mummy. 28 Day Weight Loss Challenges Over the past four years she has successfully lost 19 kg, which has changed her body and mind.
Determined not to allow the coronavirus quarantine to wreak havoc on her weight loss success thus far, she has made some tweaks to help her stay on track.
She shares 5 valuable tips below to stay on track with weight loss during quarantine.
Keri says “The day before, I was carrying a little weight, but it never stopped me from trying something new. But it was a struggle.
After sitting on the fence for some time, she finally signed up for The Healthy Mummy 28 Day Weight Loss Challenges and say “I haven’t looked back since!”
Weight loss result – 19 kg
“In these 4 years, I lost 19 kg, went down from a size 16 to a size 10/12 and lost 120 cm all over my body and I am amazed for that!”
Determined not to let the coronavirus quarantine affect her weight loss success so far, Keri shares 5 tips below that can help you too.
5 tips to achieve weight loss results during quarantine
1. Improvise if you don’t have all the ingredients
Recently Kerry decided to make spinach and ricotta cannelloni from 28 day challenge Meal plan but found out she didn’t have any pasta.
No pasta, no problem! It simply improvises by twisting instead.
she says “I eat a simple spinach and ricotta cannelloni!
I didn’t have pasta on hand so I improvised with the rolls. It still tastes and works just as well! “

2. Find the meal you love and repeat!
If there’s a meal in the 28 Days Weight Loss Challenge that you love, Keri recommends that you repeat it as many times as you like throughout the week. This makes shopping a light chore and prevents food waste.
Says “This delicious tomato and boccini pizza was on my menu for 4 days out of 7.
I chose two different lunches during the week to save money.
The pizza bases have run out.. no big deal! I left the rolls in the fridge. So I used a wrapper for my base.
Messier at the end.. and made it fun to try and eat lol.. but it tasted so good!
I don’t think about wasting food in my house! And with these turbulent times, this rule is very important!
If you don’t have all the ingredients for your meal, replace the ingredient with something else! Easy process.. and it will still be healthy and delicious! “.
3. Prepare a meal? Create extra classes to help others
There is no greater talent than the gift of giving. If you have a relative who struggles to get out of the house or works long hours, spend some time preparing a few extra meals to give them. No need to deliver meals to them, just go down at their doorstep and call them to let them know. They will be very grateful.
Keri often tries to make an extra portion of healthy mummy meals for her mom to take to work.
Says “Mom needs to keep her body plump with goodness because she is a nurse in an aged care facility. So keeping her healthy is very important to her! She’ll pick her up on her way to work tonight! “

4. Take a daily walk with the dog
Getting outdoors and getting some exercise every day is one of the best things you can do for your mental health and is very important during times of stress.
Take the family or go alone, subject to the imposed distance requirements.
Keri saysOne thing I love about healthy mummy and owning a dog is that aAfter school we enjoy walking because now I have the energy to do it!
Once upon a time, I would drop the kids off at school and come straight home! not now. We walk to our satisfied little hearts.
Ellie (my dog) and I are professionals at social distancing. For those who don’t know, she is not a fan of other dogs.
Until we are told otherwise, we will continue to walk our hounds by following the rules of course! “
4. Get creative with the exercises at home
Gyms may be closed but that doesn’t mean you can’t exercise.
This week, Keri participated in a squat game with moms at Facebook community healthy mummy.
The rules are simple. Film yourself doing a certain number of squats, then upload the video and select some friends to do the same. It’s a great way to stay connected and keep active.
You can also choose to follow any of the hundreds of exercises available on the Healthy Mummy 28 Day Weight Loss Challenge app.

5. Practice gratitude
With all the bad news flooding the media, there’s no better time than now to carve out 5-10 minutes each day to focus on gratitude.
Write down one thing each day that you are grateful for. Share with others if you like.
One of the things she’s grateful for, Keri says, is: “I can now run without feeling bloated.
My body has benefited a lot from these 28 day weight loss challenges!
19 kg, I loved every minute of my trip! “.
The Healthy Mummy team would like to congratulate Keri for her positive impact on other moms and for sharing her valuable advice with us. Together we can get past this!
