Rothy’s has long been hailed as the go-to shoe brand for everyday use. the reason? All shoes are soft, flexible, and machine washable, and many styles are sold in a cool color combo. While The Point ($149) and The Flat ($129) have been shopper favorites for years, Rothie thought it was time to add another sandal to the mix (the latest iteration, launched in 2021, has been selling out since). long time). To say that the Internet has lost its collective mind is an understatement.

My honest review of the Rothie’s Weekend Sandals
Let me start by addressing the elephant in the room: As a color lover, I’d be lying if I said I’m a fan of Rothy’s Weekend Slide’s shades—Cream (Oat), Black (Black), and Olive (Garden)—considering they’re all neutrals. Seeing the rainbow is one of Rothie’s biggest draws, I would have loved to see these criss-cross sandals launched in the brand’s iconic Dragon Fruit, Shamrock, and Periwinkle shades, to name a few. However, the lack of color selection is my only complaint about these already adorable sandals.
That’s why Ruthie’s Weekend Strips are really worth the hype. For starters, they have a support base. The contoured footbed, which sits atop a tortoise-coloured platform sole, is made of rubber, so it has a touch of cushion without lacking ample arch support. Plus, since they’re rubber, they won’t stain or retain foot odor as some sandal-toe sandals (ahem, Pyrex) have been known to do.
Then there are the straps. While they’re not really stretchy, they do have a touch of giving—just like Ruthie’s flats. It’s also made from the same signature yarn, which is made from recycled plastic woven with natural hemp fibers. The result is soft, lightweight, and breathable uppers that haven’t yet dug into my sensitive, blister-prone feet. Suffice it to say: I understand the social media response to this launch. Sandals really are the ultimate casual slide, without looking like the athletic or “refresh” silhouette that fills this niche (think Oofos). Now, I can only hope they release new colors, and stats.
