You may have heard of adrenal cocktails and watched this “trendy” drink pop up on Instagram. Drinking an adrenal cocktail can help with stress response and so much more, which I detail in today’s post!
Hi friends! I hope you have a wonderful week. I’m preparing everything for a 7-day reset – starting Monday! Register here. it’s free.
In today’s post, I wanted to talk about a drink I’ve seen all over society lately: the adrenal gland cocktail. There are many variations, but they contain a mixture of coconut water, orange juice, and salt. Arrived to Mia Chat about this on the blog and co-wrote this post!
Adrenal Cocktail Recipe and Why You Should Try it
So what is the adrenal cocktail?
The adrenal gland cocktail contains a combination of potassium, sodium, and vitamin C.
It may be helpful in your routine if you:
Tired all the time and lethargic
Stress and reach for that extra caffeine to power through the day
You have trouble sleeping and suffer from ‘fatigue but wired’ syndrome
Just know that you are not alone if you experience these things and we have (one) of the answers for you to help get yourself out of this hole.
So what is the adrenal gland?
Adrenal In fact, it sits on top of its kidneys. These tiny glands produce hormones that regulate your stress response, metabolism, glucose, blood pressure, and immune system. When they are taxed, the rest of you crave balance and balance. It’s also really good at adapting, so if you’re nervous in one area, it will reduce regulation in another to make up for what you need to keep you alive and running.
Example: Your period gets longer or your period goes missing when you’re on a labor deadline or too stressed + Too much exercise + Under eating = The body says “Reproduction isn’t a priority right now, so we can skip ovulation this month.”
In order to provide our body with the best balance, regulate blood sugar, improve metabolic flexibility and increase insulin sensitivity, we need to support it!
how to do that? One small way is to add a small drink called an adrenal cocktail. Provides essential vitamins and minerals, especially potassium, sodium and complete vitamin C, not ascorbic acid.
adrenal cocktail recipe
Almost every “adrenal cocktail” recipe should offer:
375 mg potassium (ATP, electrolytes)
460 mg sodium (electrolytes, blood pressure, energy)
60 mg Complete Vitamin C (our adrenals need more in times of stress and a source of carbohydrates)
Adrenal cocktails can be a mixture of orange juice, coconut water, salt and/or cream of tartar.

When should you drink the adrenal gland cocktail?
- to eat breakfast! If you’re not a fan of “breakfast” and the idea of eating food makes you green or you usually fast intermittently and hit the caffeine all morning, then this drink is a great way to kickstart your metabolism and fuel the fire.
- When the power is low around 10 AM and 2 to 3 PM
- Before bed, if you usually wake up between 2-4 AM and can’t go back to sleep
- Before or after exercise
Have you tried the adrenal gland cocktail before? Do you think you will include it in your routine?
One of my favorite morning drinks is this morning’s detox drink.
