Sharing an updated skincare and makeup routine that’s perfect for beginners.
Hello friends! How is the day? I hope you had a wonderful weekend. P had a soccer game, I taught a wilderness class, we watched a movie and roasted a chicken, and met the family for dinner. Today, I spend the morning Study for IHP (I’m over the middle of second level!) and take hot yoga classes.
For today’s post, I wanted to share my latest skincare and makeup routine. I’ve had a few recent orders and feel like I’ve found a groove with the products and several have been favorites over the past few years. It’s funny because I went to write this post thinking I am a very simple person, but after writing it all, it feels like a LOT of product! So while I use a lot of *things*, everything has a purpose, and my routine is all about speed. A must have with juggling pick up/drop off/activities/work/life. I also try to choose products that contain safer ingredients with decent EWG ratings.
This is what it looks like now! They change and evolve over time with new products I find or like, but these are a lot of my tried-and-true favorites.
5 minutes skin care and 5 minutes makeup routine
5-Minute Daily Skin Care
night:
makeup eraser This little thing is a real wonder. It works really well and helps remove the majority of makeup, including eye makeup.
Blueberry Bounce Cleaner. I have very sensitive skin and this is one of the few i can use all over my face (Even around my eyes) without irritation.
toner. This ink Glows without drying. I will also use this Once or twice a week.
Serum. I switch serums often and that is it My latest fave for bedtimeand that is My favorite morning serum.
moisturizer. I will also be replacing my daily moisturizers and will usually alternate between them Eminence And Beauty Counter Cream Supreme.
jade roller and sha gua. I love these and notice a difference in the texture of my skin with regular use. This is an IG account It contains a lot of good tutorials on how to use gua sha.
Rose water spray. This is moisturizing and smells amazing. One of my homemade face sprays is here!
routine breakdown:
– Heat up the water and I put on a headband and put my hair up in a messy bun.
– Wet the makeup eraser and use it to thoroughly clean my face and neck.
– Add Raspberry Cleanser to my hands, clean my face, rinse and pat dry.
Use your fingers to gently tap on the toner, then the serum, then the moisturizer.
– Jade roll and Gua Sha.
– Mist with rose water mist.
Done in 5 minutes.
every two nights:
Face oil. I will add this to do a lymphatic massage or gua sha on my face and neck as a final step. I also love pure argan oil or rosehip oil.
Overnight peel. This is one of my go-to beauty products. I will use this after cleansing and before adding moisturizer. I use this instead of a toner on these nights.
frown! My Natural Botox Option 😉 I was very skeptical to try this stuff but I have noticed a huge difference in the WTF lines in my forehead with regular use. I can’t use it daily or I’ll break out, but every other day or so, I’ll cover my forehead these.
Red face mask! This thing feels so comfy and I love listening to podcasts while I’m lying in bed. (If you want one, wait until Wednesday to buy it! The link is here And use FITNESSISTA15.)
weekly:
Charcoal mask for the faceAnd AHA maskOr a rose sheet mask (from The market is booming). I’ll wear the mask before I clean my face, and I usually get the girls ready for bed. On these nights, i just rinse and clean off my eye makeup and apply moisturizer and/or face oil. (No ink.)
Dermaplane: I will do this on dry skin once a week. It took me a long time to get the hang of it—and I learned not to do what’s on top of my lips or feel weird and weird—but I think I finally got it. It’s a pleasure to get all the little peach haze off my face.
When I take it (every few months even annually):
Facial cleansing with charcoal and turmeric treatment. I recently got a facial after more than a year and decided to make it a part of my class routine. While I would love to go monthly, it’s not realistic in terms of time but I can totally make it happen every few months or so.
BBL laser: I’ve done it many times and highly recommend! I’m prone to a few discolorations and small moles, and this one blows my mind. I haven’t found a place I *love* yet here in Tucson (last lady took a ton of time to tell me I needed fillers and Botox lol), so if you have any records please send them my way!
After BBL (ignoring my eyebrows lol)
(After you’re done, the stains darken like coffee grounds and fade)
Skin check! It’s worth noting here that you should get a head-to-toe check-up by a dermatologist every year, and sooner if you notice any changes in your skin. It’s a pain, but it’s worth it. Do it!!
5-minute daily makeup:
Daily products:
Tarte BB cream. It’s a bit on the thick/matte side but it has good coverage and I’ll mix it up with an SPF
Skin Medica SPF. Decent components and work well.
Eyebrow pencil from Anastasia or Beautycounter eyebrow gel
tarte eyeliner This is my favourite!
Tarte concealer. I may be the only person who hates Shape Tape and I always come back to this primer. I’ve also been using it as an eye shadow base since Tarte stopped making stick eye primers.
Eye shadow tarte (Amazing deal on these now! These are the most palettes I have recently purchased and I love them). Tarte makes the best eye shadows I’ve found for my sensitive eyes. A lot of the palettes make my eyes itch, and this is one of the few brands that doesn’t.
Beauty counter or This is blush
Intense color lipstick (usually at brunch), This dwelling (in Hang Ten), or lip gloss (in any color)—or a combination of them all.
Special Occasion or Date Night Additions:
Eyelash foundation And mascara. I don’t wear mascara every day – I think it makes my lashes thinner with daily use and they look better when I actually wear them – but a primer is a must. It makes a huge difference in length and fullness
Eyelashes! I wear it on my outer lashes for a little something extra, but i appreciate that it still looks natural
Darker colors than one of my Tarte palettes
WHEW. And that’s it!
So, tell me, friends: What’s your favorite beauty or skincare must right now? Please share the goods in the comments section! Always love to hear your feedback on the amazing products you love!
